As a GambleAware Counsellor, you will provide recovery orientated counselling and psychology services as part of a multidisciplinary team with the vision of improving the mental and social wellbeing of gamblers, family and friends, and the general community. You will work under supervision within professional practice and Agency guidelines. You will creatively engage with the community in a flexible, accessible, and supportive way.

Remuneration

This position operates under the Health Professionals & Support Services Award 2020 on a level 3 ($40.80/hr - $46.40/hr)

About The Role 

Working as part of our team some key responsibilities include but is not limited to:

  • Use creative and assertive approaches to engage individuals in help seeking behaviour and recovery orientated treatment
  • Select and administer specialist assessments including specialised psychometric assessments (as appropriate), structured observations, clinical interviews, and to interpret and integrate this data.
  • Formulate treatment plans that are specific to each client, based upon an analysis of complex factors contribuitng to the presentation, and selectively drawing on appropriate conceptual and theoretical models. 
  • Deliver evidence based therapuetic interventions to individuals, couples and families with a range of presentations, including those experiencing moderate to complex issues and comorbidities
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve positive client outcomes
  • Administer appropriate risk management plans where needed.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary level degree in social work, psychology, counselling or other Allied Health profession
  • Registration with an associated governing body such as AHPRA, ACA or AASW
  • Experience in the treatment of gambling harm and/or addictions and a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of mental health, stepped care and intervention options
  • Experience in the delivery or willingness to deliver both individual and group counselling.
  • Experience in maintaining records to meet organisational and legislative requirements  
  • A Current NSW Driver's Licence and ability to travel as part of the role
  • A satisfactory Working With Children Check (or willing to obtain)
