Job Description

About the Role
As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, you will provide holistic, client-centred services to families experiencing separation, conflict, or crisis. You’ll help parents manage child-focused arrangements and facilitate mediation processes that comply with the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) and relevant regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) services in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans, particularly in cases involving family and domestic violence.
  • Facilitate parenting and property mediations, both face-to-face and online.
  • Provide information and referrals for counselling and legal processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of current Family Law legislation and mediation practices.
  • Manage caseloads and meet service benchmarks.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Accreditation with the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners.
  • Tertiary qualification in Law, Social Sciences, Social Work, or Mediation/Dispute Resolution (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in family dispute resolution, including assessments and mediation interventions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of family and domestic violence, trauma-informed practice, and child development.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a child-focused approach.
