About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Counsellor to join our Supporting Adolescent Boys Program within the Families, Wellbeing & Justice portfolio.
This role provides therapeutic support to adolescent boys and young men who have experienced family, domestic, and sexual violence (FDSV). You will play a key role in supporting recovery, preventing future use of violence, and contributing to evidence-informed practice in this specialist area.
You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external services to ensure integrated, safe, and effective care.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments
Develop and deliver individualised treatment and counselling plans
Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions
Work collaboratively with internal and external service providers
Contribute to case coordination, risk management, and information sharing
Collect and maintain accurate program data and reporting
Support continuous improvement in clinical practice and service delivery
Uphold professional, ethical, and safeguarding standards
About You
You are a compassionate and skilled counsellor who is confident working with complex presentations and vulnerable young people.
Essential Requirements
Minimum Diploma in Counselling (essential)
Experience in community services and/or family and domestic violence contexts
Ability to work collaboratively within multi-agency networks
High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to ethical, client-centred practice
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
Current NSW Driver Licence
Working With Children Check
National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to travel within the region as required
